About
Independent research, in the reader’s interest
Consumer Insights Journal exists for one reason: to help people make confident purchasing decisions based on evidence rather than marketing. We are an independent editorial publication covering health and wellness, home and kitchen, technology, beauty, sports and the outdoors, pets, travel and the products that fill everyday life.
Every category we cover follows the same principle. We start with the questions a careful buyer would ask, we gather the evidence, and we report what we find — including when the answer is “this product is not worth your money.” Our value to readers depends entirely on our willingness to say so.
Who we are
Our team brings together editors, researchers and subject-matter reviewers with backgrounds in consumer science, nutrition, product engineering and journalism. Articles that touch on health or safety are reviewed by qualified contributors before publication. Where a claim cannot be substantiated, it does not appear.
We are a small, focused publication rather than a sprawling content farm. That is deliberate. It allows us to test fewer products more thoroughly and to stand behind every verdict we publish.
How we stay independent
Consumer Insights Journal is reader-focused and editorially independent. No brand can pay to influence a ranking, a rating or a recommendation. Our editorial team decides what we cover and what we conclude, full stop.
Some of the links on our site are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you purchase through them. This never affects our verdicts, our scores or which products we recommend, and it costs you nothing. Affiliate revenue helps fund the testing and research that makes our work possible. You can read more about exactly how we evaluate products on our How We Test page.
Our editorial standards
- Evidence first. Recommendations are grounded in testing, published research, expert input or a combination of the three — never in a brand’s own marketing.
- Transparency. We disclose affiliate relationships clearly and explain our methodology openly.
- Accountability. When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and note the change.
- Reader interest above all. If a product is overpriced, overhyped or simply unnecessary, we say so.
